Congratulations to 15 Starpoint artists who currently have work at the Kenan Center for the Storr's All High Art Show. Two Starpoint students also took home an award at the opening reception on Sunday, April 14! Congratulations to Julia Lukasik as the postcard award winner. Her sculpture was the featured image on the show card! Congratulations to Aviana Brady for winning Most Expressive. Aviana's piece is about autism awareness and acceptance. What she says bout her piece titled 'We Will Rule One Day' See below " My drawing or message is about people being different or having autism wanting to be heard. Most autistic people are laughed at or made fun of when it comes to them trying their hardest. Jokes and representations are common themes in making fun of someone who is autistic or anyone who is different. It’s unfair how people can do that and easily get away with it. I’ve always had a thought of wanting to change this, myself being autistic. There should be supportive people out there willing to help out in these situations. Maybe one day there will be a movement for people with autism. I want to be a part of it and rule with them to show everyone that autistic people are included too. It will help, even to those who don’t have the confidence to speak and talk about their autism."
